Sedmikrásky
The end of 1966 saw the premiere of yet another silver screen creation whose stylized idiom strove to unveil the kind of manipulative behaviour people engage in while dealing with one another. The first lady of Czech cinema, Věra Chytilová, tells a grotesque tale of two girls who decide to toe the line set by the "decadent" world and act accordingly. Their ensuing escapades, destructive and conducted with a detached sense of irony, form the basis of this movie that is not just a bravura parade of surreal conflicts but, thanks to the director´s ingenious work with colour material, also a work of rare visual impact.
