Hoří má panenko!
Miloš Forman´s last film shot in his native country. This comedy about a helpless village fire brigade whose members hopelessly fail to handle a raffle organized during an annual ball and prove even less apt at staging a beauty contest, proved too much in its time not only for the communist censors but, in a way, also for the movie´s famed Italian co-producer Carlo Ponti. However, the initial turmoil surrounding the film both at home and abroad eventually proved an ideal publicity stunt: the merciless, biting humour of Forman´s allegory has since continued to make laugh successive generations of cinemagoers, and has deservedly joined the company of European cinematic classics.
