Film laboratories

For 64 years of their existence laboratories have developed millions of meters of their own films and also of the independent productions. Many of them have been awarded at film festivals in Venice, Cannes, Brussels and others. Today’s laboratories in Zlín are specialized in the film processing of archive materials. They are constantly in search of new ways how to service and accommodate needs of modern national as well as private and independent archives.

Film licensing and production

Ateliery Bonton Zlin a.s. ( ABZ a.s.) is animation film production company and is the administrator of the largest library of Czech feature films and animation right. ABZ are representing over 1500 films. These are feature films, animation and documentaries, owned by state (1965-1991), or independent producers and own production.

These films include movies from top directors, such as Jan Svěrák, Miloš Forman, Jiří Menzel, all of which are Oscar winners and well known titles such as Closely Watched Trains, Loves of Blonde, Skylarks on the String, The Shop on Main Street, The Firemen´s Ball and The Elementary School which have all been awarded with international awards.

Part of the represented library is also owned by ABZ a.s. and includes feature films and animations produced by ABZ a.s. Many of animation titles are based on the most popular cartoon and puppet characters in the Czech Republic, such as Pat and Mat, Bob and Bobby and Spejbl a Hurvínek.

ABZ a.s. has been successfully licensing rights to these films worldwide for over 10 years, using their strong marketing and sales power as well as legal expertise in the field of exploitation and protection of intelectual property.

ABZ a.s. is a regular attendee of international fairs and markets such as MIP TV, MIP Com in Cannes, NATPE in Las Vegas (Miami), Berlinale and DISCOP in Budapest.
